Training Manual
Kingdom of England - Training Manual
BASIC INFORMATION
HOST
When hosting trainings, you are to:
Use grammar and punctuation when speaking.
Use All Caps when giving out commands. (No punctuation in commands)
Be patient and warn disobedient attendees. If the attendee still doesn’t cooperate, dismiss them.
Pass those with good overall performance in the training. (Don’t pass someone who did good only on duels. Don’t fail someone who did only one or two mistakes in turns)
When it comes to your Co-host:
Accept only one Co-host per training.
Ranks to be accepted: Footman +
Grant your Co-host the permission to train the attendees on a minimum of ONE subject and a maximum of TWO subjects (E.g. Titles and Static Drills).
In the #training-logs, feel free to include the performance of your Co-host in Notes.
ATTENDEES
All attendees must:
Be of rank: Serf, Conscript, Militia or Footman.
Be silent during the training and speak only to ask permission to speak or when asked to.
Be respectful towards the Host, Co-host and fellow attendees.
TERMS
Terms are used within the group and are a quick way of communication in various situations.
To enforce Terms, the attendees must be told to:
Speak only when asked to and answer questions with “YES/NO (RANK OR TITLE)”
If needed, ask permission to speak by saying the Host’s/Co-host’s title/rank.
NOT use punctuation when speaking. And to speak only in full caps.
Make sure to always ask if the attendees understood your explanation.
TITLES
Titles are the way you address people within the group.
Proceed to explain the following:
The King shall be addressed as “Your Majesty”.
The Lord Protector shall be addressed as “Your Majesty” or “Lord Protector”
The Crown Prince shall be addressed as “Your Highness”
The Royal Council, Nobles, Dukes and Duchesses are to be addressed as “M’lord” or “M’lady”, depending on their gender.
Knights are to be addressed as “Sir” or “Dame”, depending on their gender.
Peasantry, the ranks from Serf to Lieutenant, are to be addressed by their ranks. The same goes for Captain, Squire, Earl and Marshal.
Do not forget to ask if the attendees understood you.
Proceed to test them.
E.g.
“How do you address the King?”
“How do you address a Male Knight?”
“How do you address a Female Council Member?”
“How do you address a Marshal?”
Don’t exaggerate in the quantity of questions asked.
STATIC DRILLS
What is most known as FACES, in our group are known as TURNS.
Explain to the attendees that, essentially, TURNS are used to tell which direction you should turn to.
Proceed to demonstrate. Tell them to not follow your examples, but to watch.
Inform them that they are to be addressed as “COMPANY” in the ongoing training. Also inform the attendees that any command that doesn’t have “COMPANY” in it and isn’t in full caps should NOT be followed. And commands with punctuation are also NOT to be followed.
You are to demonstrate that:
If the host says RIGHT TURN, you turn 90° to the right.
If the host says LEFT TURN, you turn 90° to the left.
If the host says RIGHT INCLINE, you turn 45° to the right.
If the host says LEFT INCLINE, you turn 45° to the left.
If the host says ABOUT TURN, you make a 180° turn while turning to the right.
If the host says CENTER TURN, you turn to face the host.
Remember to ask if the attendees understood it.
Proceed to test them.
E.g.
“COMPANY RIGHT TURN”
“COMPANY ABOUT TURN”
“COMPANY LEFT TURN”
“COMPANY RIGHT INCLINE”
“COMPANY LEFT INCLINE”
“COMPANY CENTER TURN”
Note: Don’t start testing them with a trick command.
WEAPON DRILLS
These are weapon commands that should be followed by those in the COMPANY.
(The attendees should not follow your examples in this moment)
Proceed to explain and demonstrate:
READY ARMS = Place your hand on your sword. (T key)
TAKE UP YOUR ARMS = Equip your weapon.
SHOULDER YOUR ARMS = Lifting your weapon on your shoulder. (G key)
PRESENT YOUR ARMS = Saluting with your weapon. (H key)
REST YOUR ARMS = Return your weapon to It’s basic position.
GROUND YOUR ARMS = Unequip your weapon. (Remember them to unready arms ‘press T’ after GROUND ARMS)
Do not forget to ask if the attendees understood you.
Proceed to remind them that they are still to be addressed as “COMPANY” and test them.
E.g.
COMPANY READY YOUR ARMS
COMPANY TAKE UP YOUR ARMS
COMPANY SHOULDER YOUR ARMS
COMPANY PRESENT YOUR ARMS
COMPANY REST YOUR ARMS
COMPANY GROUND YOUR ARMS
Don’t exaggerate in the quantity of commands given.
FORMATIONS
Knowing the basic formations are essential to the group.
Feel free to use your Co-host for the next examples.
Proceed to explain the following formations:
A WEDGE is when you align yourself with the other person's shoulder, making an arrowhead-like formation, the leftover goes to the middle of the formation.
A RANK to the right/left or in front/behind is when you make a line to the host's left/right or in front/behind of the host.
A COLUMN is when you make a straight line behind the person in front of you. No neck sniffing.
A DOUBLE COLUMN is the same but you will have two rows instead of one. You should be aligned to the host's shoulder.
Ask if the attendees understood you.
Proceed to remind them that they are still to be addressed as “COMPANY”.
While testing them, choose one of the formations to take a screenshot to be used as proof in the #training-logs channel in Discord.
Test the attendees.
E.g.
“COMPANY RANK IN FRONT OF ME”
“COMPANY TWO RANKS IN FRONT OF ME”
“COMPANY COLUMN ON ME”
“COMPANY DOUBLE COLUMN ON ME”
“COMPANY WEDGE ON ME”
Don’t exaggerate in the quantity of commands given.
Head to the duel/team battle area by forming a column and marching with them.
Our marching commands are to be said separately. The marching commands are:
“Company,”
“By the left,”
“Quick,”
“March!”
DUELS OR TEAM BATTLES
If you have a small amount of people, Duels are to be chosen. Otherwise, a large group should do a Team Battle.
During Duels:
Choose two attendees to face each other.
Tell them to go inside the fighting area.
Choose one of the fighters and use the command “:team AttendeeUsername Raiders”
Command the two fighting attendees to present their arms.
Begin the countdown and start the Duel.
Make the winners and losers form two different ranks/columns by the fighting area.
If the fighter who lost was the one you typed in the “:team” command, bring them back with the “:bring AttendeeUsername”. (Do not forget to “:team AttendeeUsername King” after bringing them back)
Follow these steps until all of the attendees have fought once.
If the number of the group is odd, make the last attendee chosen to fight your Co-host or you. (Should be taken into consideration when evaluating their performance)
Proceed to form a column with the attendees and head away from the fighting area (if the group is too large) or make a rank within the fighting area and proceed with the conclusion.
During Team Battles:
Split the group in half and make two ranks facing each other in the fighting area.
Choose one of the groups to “:team AttendeeUsername Raiders”.
Command the two fighting groups to present arms.
Begin the countdown and start the Team Battle.
Make the winning group form a rank.
Bring all the dead fighters back with the “:bring AttendeeUsername” command.
Make the losers group form a rank behind the winning group.
Use the “:team AttendeeUsername King” to switch the attendees back to the Kingdom of England team.
Proceed to form a column with the attendees and march away from the fighting area (if the group is too large) or make a double rank within the fighting area and proceed with the conclusion.
CONCLUSION/PROMOTIONS
Conclude your training by informing the attendees who passed the training and those who didn’t. After that, feel free to inform those who have been promoted and to dismiss them.
Log your training in #training-logs and promote the attendees who meet the requirements for the next rank (by checking how many trainings they have passed in the logs).
Remember to always conclude the training in military announcements.
God Save the King.
